Thanks for joining me again today! In the unlikely event that you missed what today’s topic is, it’s all about what makes an amazing game. What should you look for when searching for a top tier game? Do your personal preferences affect or dictate what games are truly masterpieces?

Looks light things for the next GTA (GTA6) are well underway, but still a way out. I’m going to guess Q2-Q3 2025 and here is my reason for saying that ⬇

So, if you are a GTA fan, 2025 is set to be an A+ year with many awesome titles coming out. GET HYPED 🔥🔥🔥

According to Johnathan Dornbush, an IGN game reviewer said this — “God of War’s outstanding character, world, and combat come together to form an unforgettable adventure”. From what he said, we can gather that it comes down to three main things.

1⃣ Outstanding Character. Without this we would not know what is happening, or why things are happening, or why the story is the way it is. Having a character with an encompassing background, and robust personality gives us the reason for doing things, and how we are to do those things.

2⃣ World. Now this one to me is the largest slice of pie. In whatever you do when creating or developing a game, you can get by with creating an amazing character, and putting half your effort into the world you are building. When you create a world that has weight on that character, and your world continues to move and do things regardless of the protagonist’s engagement, it takes the emersion and reality of that world to another level.

3⃣ Gameplay. Having great gameplay comes without explanation and is required to make a game have that icing on top. A game with great characters and worldbuilding but trash gameplay will still be played but will miss the true greatness it had the potential for. An example of this would be Cyberpunk 2077, great character, majestic world, terrible buggy gameplay (to begin with, I’m assuming they’ve fixed some bugs by this time).

Personal preference will always trump any of the three things listed. There will always be a game that just does not “meet the criteria” of a great game, but sometimes it just hits the right spots for you.

I’m into a game called “Ark - Survival Evolved” and the game I will admit is trashy. There really aren’t any characters, and the gameplay can really suck at times, but it’s just a fun game to me. I will say that my liking for the game is fading due to some “shady” things happening with the game’s development company and publishing company.

All this to say, if a game is perfect for you, don’t let other people shut you down for liking a game that just fits your groove. Just shake it off and understand that that’s their opinion.
